A 10 year old boy was brought in by his mother who has been a patient for years. She had previously told me about her son: After his MMR vaccination he was diagnosed with mental retardation. The next year’s exam he was diagnosed with severe autism, the following year with Asperger’s Syndrome. As he aged, his symptoms diminished yearly. Throughout most of the year, he appeared normal, interacted with 5 other siblings, took care of younger children, did his schoolwork, but at times he had trouble focusing, particularly in math. His mother described that every August, he goes back to displaying Autistic tendencies, like becoming fixated on an object or a thought he can not let go of. This happens for about 6 weeks and then the symptoms start to subside. The next August displayed the same recurrence of the symptom pattern. On my initial exam, before any treatment, with the patient prone, the spinous processes of his lumbar spine palpated as very prominent. When I lifted up his shirt, he had total reversal of his lumbar and thoracic spine curves. As we proceeded through the QA protocol, he strengthened on the antihistamine mix, and I tested him for multiple foods, as previous allergy testing had been performed and he was allergic to just about everything. He tested positive on cheese, soy sauce, and eggs, all of which TLed against the small intestine NL. I did IRT with each offending substance in the mouth. When I was through with this, I turned him over and there was a complete change of his lumbar and thoracic spine, returning to normal lordosis and kyphosis respectively. Needless to say, perhaps, I was stunned, but more importantly, his mother could visibly see the difference. This was probably the most fascinating result I’ve witnessed in almost 20 years of practice.
